Forbes has come out with it’s latest value rankings of sports franchises and individual athletes. Proving it is a massive worldwide brand, Manchester United of the English Premier League was once again ranked as the most valuable sports team in the world at an estimated worth of $270 million, ahead of the New York Yankees.

While being recognized as the most popular and watched sporting event in the world, the FIFA World Cup is surprisingly the 3rd richest sporting event in the world behind the Summer Olympics and the Super Bowl. The figures show just how big the Super Bowl is; the Super Bowl produces $420 million dollars per year, while the FIFA World Cup produces only $120 million every four years.

Forbes ranks teams based on the portion of their overall value not a result of market demographics and league; and events based on revenue generated per day of competition.
