Nike CR9 Safari Collection – Special Edition Cristiano Ronaldo Soccer Shoes

Word on the street is that Nike is getting ready to unveil a super exclusive, special edition footwear collection called the 'CR9 Safari Collection'. While there is very little info on the CR9 Safari collection at this point, we do know the collection includes a special colorway of the Nike Mercurial family of cleats and a release date has been set for early November. As the Cr9 collection will be a very limited release, only a few Nike accounts will be getting the product with one of those being Soccer Fanatic retail stores and SoccerFanatic.com.
With an expected release date not for almost two months, it gives us plenty of time to speculate on what these CR9 Safari Superfly and Vapor cleats might look like. The story line behind the collection is "Be Fast. Be Seen" so will the CR9 Safari collection feature some earth toned colorways or maybe even some sort of leopard print? Who knows! Yet another exciting season of Champions League soccer is just around the corner following the completion of the play-in games yesterday and today's group stage draw. The draw consists of 32 qualifying teams being divided into 8 groups. Each team then plays both a home and away match against the other teams in their group, with the two teams who accumulate the most points moving on to the knockout stages. That in mind lets get onto some of the interesting results from today's draw in Monaco...
Champions League new boys Tottenham will have no easy task as they have been drawn against defending Champions Inter Milan, German side Werder Bremen and FC Twente. Holders Inter will be widely favored to finish a top the group, while my pick is on Tottenham and Bremen to battle for second.
Champions of three years ago Manchester United will face fellow British side Rangers, as well as a transfer weakened Valencia side. United shouldn't have problems finishing a top the group, while Turkish champions Bursaspor will likely be the side looking on as Valencia and Rangers fight for second.
Several players will face their former clubs in the group stage as Didier Drogba and Chelsea have drawn French champions Marseille and Eduardo will face his old club Shakhtar Donetsk when Arsenal begins play in their group.
Undoubtedly, the 2010 Champions League group of death is Group G comprising of Real Madrid, AC Milan, Ajax and french side Auxerre. The pressure will be intense on a Real Madrid side with huge expectations, now led by last years winning manager Jose Mourinho.

Ibra Barcelona Exit Looks Imminent; AC Milan his Next Stop?

It's looking more and more like Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be making a move away from the Camp Nou in the coming days. Just one year after arriving in the Barcelona Jersey via a player and cash deal which saw Samuel Eto'o and a large sum of money head to Inter Milan, Ibrahimovic seems to have fallen out of favor at the Catalan club. After a disappointing first season in La Liga, Ibrahimovic's departure looked imminent with the arrival of Spain star David Villa over the summer.
Now, with Barcelona keen to minimize their loss on the investment, negotiations have began with AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani for a transfer of the player. The latest news on the deal claims that AC Milan is willing to package Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and €30 million in a deal which would see Ibrahimovic don the AC Milan Jersey. These latest developments are in stark contrast to Milan's reported initial offer which would have seen Ibra move to Milan on a season loan with striker Marco Borriello moving the opposite direction to Barcelona for the season.
Speaking on the situation Galliani said, "It's a long road ahead, I'd say the chances of Milan signing Ibrahimovic are 50%. We're discussing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and personal terms. At this point the two clubs are working towards a definitive sale. There will be no loan deal."
Vuvuzelas Are Here to Stay; World Cup Buzz Word Added to Dictionary

Just when you thought you would never have to hear about those darn vuvuzelas again, The Oxford English Dictionary has written them into the history books by officially adding the word to their latest edition of the dictionary.
As you probably remember the vuvuzela is a long South African horn that was all the "buzz" at World Cup 2010. While man fans from around the world watching on TV found the horns incredibly annoying, fans attending matches had a field day blowing their lungs out.
The fad quickly spread across the globe, reaching sporting stadiums across the United States. While a few American sports teams tried to get promotional value out of the hot topic, most sports teams were quick to ban the loud instrument.

France Football Farce Reaches Climax

Over a month after the 2010 World Cup has wrapped, the fallout from the French team's summer debacle continues on. Following the astonishing events in South Africa which saw Nikolas Anelka sent home, a team mutiny at a training session and several players suspended, the French Football Federation was aiming to lay down the law and punish those involved.
In what looked like an attempt to save face, the heads of French soccer summoned the five main players who were involved in the fiasco including Anelka, Franck Ribery, Patrice Evra, Jeremy Toulalan and Eric Abidal. At the meeting, which Anelka sent a lawyer to attend, the Chelsea front man was clearly made an example of, as he was slapped with an 18-match suspension that will last for nearly two years.
In true French fashion, Anelka was quick to respond with a poisonous tongue in the French newspaper Soir calling the suspension a "masquerade to not lose face. These people are real clowns ... I'm dying of laughter," the report quoted Anelka.
When asked about how his suspension may lead to the end of his international career with 'Les Bleus' Anelka responded, "Who said I wanted to play again in blue? For me, after the World Cup in South Africa, the French team is now history."
